Edward G. Ovando is the Chief Technology Officer of X Tech Ventures, an innovative company focused on solving some of today’s most challenging problems through the integration of technologies from multiple, diverse domains. He is currently focused on designing and developing integrated systems for healthcare using engineering best practices from across the industry spectrum.
Mr. Ovando has a proven track record of technical leadership, program management and systems engineering transitioning ideas from proof of concept to sustainable end-user solutions with significant business value for industry leaders.
Previously, he was the Chief Architect of Global Healthcare Initiatives for Lockheed Martin, a Fortune 50 Global Security, Aerospace, and Information Technology company with sales of $47.2 billion. In this role, he was the technical lead for the Corporation’s effort to bring systems engineering to healthcare. He provided technical direction on leveraging technologies across the Lockheed Martin business areas to team with industry partners and universities to innovate strategic solutions for reducing process waste and medical errors.
He has also served as the Chief Architect on many diverse strategic initiatives, partnering with academia and innovative companies in the following domains: Postal Systems, Clinical Systems, Surveillance, Threat Detection, Target Recognition and Language Translation. These efforts required extensive experience and deep understanding of integrating emerging technologies in the areas of: Automation Systems, Signal Recognition, Image Recognition, Data Management and Analytics, Machine Learning, Computational Optimization, Modelling, Simulation, and Visualization Platforms.
Mr. Ovando was a successful Project Lead, Chief Engineer and Program Manager for a series of enterprise-scale address automation contracts for the United States Postal Service (USPS) totaling $300M. These systems have improved the performance of processing 40% of world’s mail through automation resulting in significant cost savings for the USPS. These programs were elected as focus projects for CMMI evaluation that resulted in the site achieving CMMI Level 5 designation.
Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Mr. Ovando attended the Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. Then, pursued and obtained his Master of Science degree in computational science from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Brockport. He has held internship positions at the research divisions of the Eastman Kodak Company and Xerox Corporation. Outside of work, Ed enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, Keri, and sons, Evan and Eli.
